Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher Kathy Cook demonstrate a Floating Corpse Pose

Alignment & Balance- One Hour Intermediate Iyengar Yoga

Alignment and balance are vital in all aspects of our life and are present in all nature around us.

Whether it be the structural alignment of a building; the alignment, and balance of trees and plants as they develop; the alignment of your mind to focus without distraction; the balance of your time and energy; alignment of a team working together on a project, or parents raising children to be healthy adults.

Understanding our bodies in our practice we must become sensitive to our posture while standing as well as seated and supine. Each of us must be aware of our lifestyle habits and the imbalances that develop.

It’s through the technique of alignment which results in balance, that we can learn to practice yoga in both passive postures and active postures both to energize and relax. You will use less energy by conserving and directing your resources, by using them in an efficient way. The results create safety and peace of mind.

Enjoy your practice!
